History of the Oldsmobile Bravada

First Generation
1991

Oldsmobile offered a fully loaded luxury version of the 4dr Blazer/Jimmy called the Bravada. It came with, auto tranny only, AWD (Smart Trak), 4.3L engine, four-wheel ABS, and remote keyless entry is standard equipment.

1992

The Olds Bravada gained a few more options like a CD player and an outside (sport) spare tire carrier.
A new speedometer placed in dashboard.

1993

The Olds Bravada received electronic shift controls added to transmission.
Gold trim package is new option.
Driver's seat gets six-way power adjustment.
Both front seats gain power lumbar adjusters. Sun visors get extender panels, and a new overhead console with compass is added.

Second Generation
1996

1997

Oldsmobile drops the split-tailgate arrangement on the Bravada in favor of a top-hinged liftgate with separately lifting glass.
New to the options list is a power tilt and slide sunroof. Included with the hole in the roof are a mini-overhead console, a pop-up wind deflector, and a sun shade.
Rear disc brakes replace the former drums, combining with the front discs to provide better stopping ability.

1998

Oldsmobile revised the front styling, and new body-side cladding alters the Bravada's profile.
Dual second generation airbags are housed in a new dashboard.
A heated driver's side exterior mirror is newly standard, while heated front seats have been added to the options roster.
Battery rundown protection and a theft deterrent system are new standard features.

1999

The Olds Bravada sees feature refinements for '99.
The driver-side airbag has been redesigned into a mini-module to permit a clearer view of the instruments, while the turn signal stalk now provides a flash-to-pass feature.
A telltale warning lamp has been added to alert the driver when the tailgate lift glass is ajar and an anti-theft alarm system is now standard.
There's also an option package that combines a driver-side memory seat and a power passenger-side seat, as well as sound system upgrades across the board.

2000

New options include an engine block heater and a new Platinum package.
The Platinum package includes 8-way power front passenger’s seat, memory controls for driver’s seat, Electrochromic heated driver’s outside power mirror, 5,000-pound Towing Package with platform hitch, white letter outline tires, special pewter colored lower body cladding and special platinum edition script identification on front doors below the Bravada nameplate. (Items not available with Platinum Edition Package are standard body side pinstriping, Gold Package, Convenience Package, beige leather interior and pewter and jewelcoat red exterior colors)
